(Natural) lighting

Goal: designing a building to maximize the use of natural light, and to add comfortable artificial lighting where needed.

Surprise: good lighting is difficult and often poorly done. Can you think of an area of your building where better lighting is necessary? If you start thinking about a lighting plan after you've finished your floor plan, you've already misplayed your hand; room depth, glazing dimensions, building orientation, roof shape, and many more factors decide how efficiently you can use the sun to light your home or business.

Pay attention to what type of light you need in each area. Learn which light you prefer. Would you like your kitchen to have a 2700K warm white led overhead lighting on a dimmer, but 4000K crisp white task lighting when you're working with sharp knives? Me too.

We use LED lighting exclusively in our buildings and low-voltage lighting when requested.

Challenge: matching each areas' individual needs with intuitive lighting
